anyone else’s first choice of how to spend
an extra day off school.
“Time to go, Billie!” Mr Bizkit announced,
looking at Billie as he spoke. “Are you
ready?”
Billie was still watching Harry thumping
on his highchair tray, but heard him. With
her new hearing aid, Billie didn’t really need
to watch people’s faces when they spoke
anymore. She could hear much better now.
Billie had had a problem with hearing since
she was three years old. She’d had an
illness. The illness had got better, but it had
damaged her hearing. Billie could hear
