Chapter One
               NO matter how carefully he trod, the twigs

            snapped under his feet.

                CRACK!

                “Ughh!” Jay winced.

                He was still only a few metres from the path

            and the sleeping Pioneers, so his moonlit

            escape from their camp had to be as silent as

            possible. Jay had left his rucksack on top of

            the blanket. After all, he wouldn’t need it back

            in the real world and it belonged to the

            Pioneers. It was wrong to take things that

            didn’t belong to you, he had thought.

               Jay could feel his heart thumping hard in his

            chest. The chill of the night air made him

            shiver and he wished he’d still been wearing

            his school sweatshirt when he had fallen into

            the computer game. Fallen into a computer
