“Well,” said Lucy “We could make him

think there were so many things wrong with

Park House that he wouldn’t want to buy it

after all. If he changed his mind that would

give us time to think of ways of finding the

money to keep the home open.”

“Wouldn’t that be telling lies,” said Tom.

“No,” said Lucy. “We don’t have to

actually say there is anything wrong with

the house. Just tell him that old houses

often have lots of problems.”

“What kind of problems?” said Tom.
