               “I can’t believe she fell for that,” I said as


            we sat safely away from any revenge Clara

            might be plotting.


               “It was pretty scary,” Jake said. “I told you

            those pens would come in useful one day,


            didn’t I?”

               He had been right. It was almost worth


            having a sister. Of course, we’d have to

            stay out of sight for an hour at least. I


            wasn’t sure how long it would take Mum

            and Clara to work out that scrubbing her

            face with white spirit was the only way to


            get the pen off. Then, of course, I would

            have to go and say sorry.


               Jake changed the subject.
