house. Frightened at finding us sitting there,
it panicked, batted its wings even harder
and made a loud screeching sound. Then
Jake also made a loud screeching sound:
the kind of noise you might make if you
thought you were about to get your eyes
pecked out.
Anyway, all this flapping and screeching
coming from just one tree seemed to attract
the attention of the guy by the skip. He
looked in our direction and then ran off back
across the car park and out of sight.
Jake and I looked at each other. We were
both thinking the same thing.
“Let’s go and see what it is!”
