He hadn't. It was fate. The box landed
with a dull thump in the middle of my
stomach. I struggled to sit up and clutching
it with both hands clambered back down off
the skip.
“Sorry, Jake!” I said. “I’ve got it. It’s mine!”
He only looked slightly annoyed. He
looked mostly covered in some sort of oily
slime that had come off the old pram.
I put the box down on the ground and we
both crouched in front of it. Nothing on the
lid suggested what it might be.
I lifted the lid. With a little shake it came
off easily and we both stared down at what
was inside.
It was a cd.
