“Yuck!” said Jasmine.
The woman reached out and grabbed her arm.
Jasmine screamed.
“You ought to teach that girl of yours some manners,”
said the old man
Mum pulled Jasmine away.
“I’m very sorry,” she said. “We’re both very sorry to
have bothered you. Come on Jasmine.”
“There aren’t no roads round here!” the old woman
called after them.
They raced back through the field and the woods to
the road. They jumped back in the car and locked the
doors. Mum put an arm around Jasmine.
“Perhaps they never go out!” she suggested.
“They really scared me, Mum,” said Jasmine. “Why
were they wearing such old fashioned clothes and what’s a
pitcher of water? They sounded like something out of
history!”
