and wheeled herself in her wheelchair over

to the door of The Den. When I say ‘Den’ I

mean the big old garage at the side of

Poppy’s bungalow. Poppy’s mum and dad

used to keep loads of …er, junk in their big

old garage. Then one day Poppy had asked

them if it would be okay to chuck out the

junk and turn the garage into a Den for the

Chicken Street Gang. Poppy belonged to

the Chicken Street Gang. Everyone in the

Gang was in the same class at the same

school. That was Chicken Street School. So

they were all about the same age – ten.

And they all lived in the same street. That

was Chicken Street. Fancy that! Amazing

isn’t it?
