That night Gary couldn’t sleep

for ages. He couldn’t stop the

thoughts racing around in his head -

Al, Specks, the stolen car, that

terrifying ride, Josh, the police car,

running and running and to cap it all,

Lauren. At least she had distracted

Josie and Tom from asking why he’d

got back so late.

Eventually, Gary had drifted off

to sleep. But then he found himself in

the middle of a bizarre dream. A pair

of strong arms was pulling him out of

bed and dragging him down the stairs.

Out in the July night air a bonfire was

being built - two upright poles in the
