was.
“Uncle Tom! Uncle Tom! Aunt
Josie! Aunt Josie! Wake up! Wake up!
There’s a fire! There’s a fire!”
A second later Tom leapt on to the
landing followed by an anxious
looking Josie.
“It’s coming from...from...,” Gary
pointed at Lauren’s closed bedroom
door.
Tom grabbed the door handle
and pushed open the door.
Gary expected a whoosh of
smoke or flames and a terrified
Lauren to leap from the bedroom. But
instead…
