But no one knew exactly where it
was. The “den” was meant to be kind
of secret. They had discovered the
spot a year ago. You had to crawl
through a mass of overgrown
brambles, bush and ivy and into a
large hollow in a fallen down tree. No
one else seemed to have discovered
it or recognised its den potentials and
the boys often left their stuff there
overnight.
Today, what with it being hot and
the first week of the school summer
holiday, there were loads of people
about. As they got nearer to the park
the boys had to slow down and wind
their way around the parents with
toddlers who always seemed to walk
