Looking after yourself
When you talk back to worries and stop them being in charge you
are looking after yourself.
There are lots of other practical things you can do to look after
yourself when you’re worried about things. These include:
Talking to someone you trust about your worry
Remember times in the past when you were anxious about
something and how, in the end, everything got better and was okay
again
Doing activities or fun things you enjoy especially with your
friends/family
Being active outside in the fresh air
Helping other people
Doing something you are really good at
Relaxing
Some children (and grown-ups) have extra special things they do
when they are worried or anxious. Some people learn how to
meditate, relax or they pray. Different things are helpful to different
people. You will find what works for you.
When you talk back to your worries and let them know you are in
charge and when you find what helps you when you are anxious then
worries become weaker and you become stronger. In time you will
find you are able to handle worries and stressful things more easily.
