What to do
Remember we said worries are a bit like plants? So the first thing you
need to do is stop ‘feeding’ the worry.
That doesn’t mean stop thinking about the worrying thing. That’s
probably not possible. It doesn’t mean never do anything that might
make you anxious or anything you might find difficult. It is okay to
have worries – you just need to know what to do with them.
Worries are very bossy, some are even bullies. They like to be in
charge and tell you when to think about them and what to think
about them.
Remember also that they like to tell you all sorts of lies and get you
really worked up. They can make you think that something is worse
than it might really be. The more upset you get the more in charge
and bossy they are.
The good news is that you can do something about this!
First, know that you are in charge and not the bossy worries. The less
in charge they are the smaller and weaker they will get and the
stronger and less worried you will be.
So how can that happen?
