Jay hadn’t thought of that.
“You don’t think they’ll come looking for us,
do you?” he said.
“I don’t know. They went to a lot of trouble
to get Flick back didn’t they?” Abby answered.
Flick had bounced off to help Lewis pack up
the food supplies. She managed to drop a tin
of biscuits in the dirt. Binny tried hard not to
sound cross.
Jay and Abby grinned at each other.
“You don’t think they’re regretting it do
you?” Abby said.
Five minutes later everyone was packed up
and ready to leave. They all gathered around
Ella. She looked taller, more confident, Jay
thought.
“Is everyone ready?” she asked.
The Pioneers nodded or answered “yes”.
