“What?” said Jay.

“Well, you’re not… I mean you’re not doing

that walking thing anymore are you?”

Jay looked down at his feet. He hadn’t

thought about the Walking Thing for ages

now.

“The Pioneers didn’t say anything about the

way I walk,” Jay said out loud.

Abby smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

“Why would they want to? Not everyone is

going to laugh at you for doing something a

different way! And so what if they do anyway?

That’s why you ran out of school wasn’t it?

Everyone likes you though, Jay.”

Jay thought about this. Had he got it all
