Chapter Fifteen
The next day it was hot work striding
through the long grasses and by midday Jay
and Abby were fed-up. They stopped only
twice to drink water and eat food from their
rucksacks, but everyone agreed it was best to
keep going. Everyone wanted to reach the end
of this bit of the path as soon as possible.
By mid-afternoon they were almost there.
The grasses were thinner and not as high.
Abby and Jay looked out for anything
different. Anything that looked different might
be a clue to the way out of the game. But what
exactly were they supposed to be looking for?
Suddenly Ella, in the lead, let out a shout of
encouragement. Everyone started running to
catch up with her. They’d reached the end of
the grasses already.
