“Right,” Jay repeated. “Go and find
something to do.”
Jay often repeated things people said –
sometimes out loud, sometimes just to
himself.
Dad watched a moment as Jay set off for the
front door. He had a kind of half smile, half
frown on his face. Jay didn’t know what that
meant except that he was thinking something
and that it was probably something about him.
There were two more buzzes before he got
there, but it didn’t make him hurry.
When Jay pulled open the front door Abby
was there with her bike and a big grin on her
face. Although Abby had only known Jay a
week, this was the third time she had come
round.
