It was as if Abby being eleven like he was

            and in the same class meant that Hill Road

            Primary School was the right place to go.

            Except Jay didn’t think it was the right school.

            As far as he was concerned the right school

            was the one he had just left for no good

            reason at all. And that was Parkside. Parkside

            was special. He had been there since he was

            four. It had a big wide entrance with a big

            reception desk. Mrs Bailey sat at the reception

            desk. She was always there. Every morning,

            when Jay arrived at school, she was sitting

            there and every morning she said,  “Good

            Morning, Jay!” and every morning Jay said,

            “Good morning, Mrs Bailey” because that was

            what you were supposed to say. All the

            classrooms were down the corridor on the left

            and the cloakrooms, the hall, the library and
