the staff rooms were down the corridors on

the right. At the back there was a big

playground and then a field. It was always like

that. Jay liked things that stayed the same.

Then, a week ago, came The Move. The

Move happened, not because his dad had

changed jobs. The Move happened because

his dad had got fed up living in the two-

bedroomed flat. They’d lived in the two-

bedroomed flat since the time when Mum had

been with them. Dad had decided he wanted a

house with its own front door, stairs, a bit of

garden and a space at the front for parking the

car. Dad ran his own business from home. He

needed more space now. But Jay hadn’t

wanted The Move to happen. No one had

asked him. Then the next thing he knew he

was being told he would have to move
