“It doesn’t say you can do that,” he said.

“It’s not in the rules!”

“Flippin heck!” said Abby. “You could still

just do it.”

Jay had been too busy following the rules

to think up something for himself. That’s what

he was good at though – following rules. As

long as he knew what they were. That was the

easy bit. The tricky bit was thinking of what to

do when the rules didn’t work.

Abby was clicking all over the screen

instructing the Pioneers to pick up blankets,

food rations, water bottles and tents. By the

time he had finished they were all weighed

down with supplies. They looked well

prepared for whatever the game had in store.

They all wore dark trousers, t-shirts and

walking boots. Two carried extra-large water
