Of course! The competition. Jake’s idea
had meant I’d just got my entry done in time
too. There was silence apart from the paper
tearing as she opened the envelope. She
removed a folded piece of paper.
“The winners are: Tom, Natalie, Matt,
Emma, Leah, Hattie, Joe, Alice and Jake!”
There were screams and hysterics of
excitement and disbelief as well as groans
of disappointment. I was thrilled for Jake,
but as I’d expected my name hadn’t been
on the list. Jake was looking shocked.
“I was sure that idea of mine was going to
work,” he said. “Sorry Harry !”
Someone was shouting.
