Chapter Eleven
The three of them crept slowly back to the
spring. It was cooler walking amongst the
thick branched trees, but the sun was baking
down on to the forest now. The tree tops
above them were alive with the noisy excited
sounds of birds and chimps. Jay wished he
could swing through the trees like the chimps.
At least up there they would be safe from the
Groundlings.
Soon they were back at the clearing where
they had seen the pile of rocks. Binny found a
good place for them to hide amongst the thick
bushes and they waited and listened for any
sounds of Groundlings for a full two minutes.
“I can’t see anything and I can’t hear
anything,” whispered Ella. “They’ve gone. It’s
okay.”
