having problems being the leader. It just
wasn’t fair, Jay thought. Ella was a good
leader.
“You’re going to have to get them all back
together,” he suggested.
“I know that!” Ella replied.
Within minutes they’d gathered at the
spring. They hadn’t found Flick.
Rosie was distraught. She was searching
through the bushes and shouting her
daughter’s name.
“She’s not here,” Binny said calmly.
“Stop this!” Ella ordered. “Stop this running
about and listen!”
But the Pioneers weren’t listening. Amongst
the chaos of the searching Jay thought he
heard a different noise. It was the clunk of
