            sleeping Pioneers!

               “No!” Jay yelled again. He stood up and

            completely forgot about his Walking Thing

            and began walking briskly back along the

            path. Faster, faster. He broke into a slow run.

            This time he would get away. This time he

            would make sure Binny didn’t follow. But his

            head was spinning with tiredness. He looked

            at the trees that lined the edge of the path and

            he got that strange feeling again - the feeling

            that he wasn’t going anywhere. It was as

            though he was running on the spot.

               Jay stopped dead. He turned back. Binny

            was still just an arm’s length from him. How

            was that possible?

               “No!” Jay screamed. He kicked at the

            ground. Binny put an arm around him and led
