Jay and Binny and Ella and Flick were too
stunned to move. Lewis had faced the
Groundling and destroyed it! Its zapped
melting body was still dissolving and melting
into the soil.
Then Ella and Lewis yelled at them all to
run. It was another four minutes before they
staggered exhausted and relieved back on to
the path. Rosie rushed to greet them –
especially the rescued Flick and Lewis.
“Pretty impressive!” Jay said to Lewis as
the Pioneers hugged them and pulled them
further on to the safety of the path.
Lewis looked at him.
“All that time down in their world taught me
that it’s possible to stand up to them,” Lewis
replied.
