monster reached out and grabbed at Ella and

Jay who were nearest.

Jay struggled and kicked as the Groundling

tightened his grip and pulled him towards him.

“No! No!” he yelled.

The next few seconds were a panicked blur,

but Jay was suddenly aware of Lewis standing

right in front of the Groundling with his blitzer.

“It won’t work! It won’t work!” he heard

himself shouting.

The Groundling roared and snarled angrily

and began wrapping the capture cords around

Jay so tightly he could barely breathe. This

was it then?

Then there was a blast of energy and Jay

was flung into the air and landed heavily a few

metres from the Groundling – or rather a few

metres from where the Groundling had been.
