The Groundling’s eyes bulged with
excitement.
“Of course I’m right!” he hissed. “Now, pass
me that key.”
Jay pretended to stretch out for the key.
“I can’t get it!” he said. “You’ll have to let go
of me.”
The Groundling fell for it. As it released his
ankle Lewis suddenly appeared out of the
darkness. He had come back for him! Of
course he had come back for him. But Jay was
free. Scrambling to his feet he kicked the key
further from the cage and holding tight to
Lewis’ outstretched arm the two of them
escaped into the darkness.
They had done it. They had rescued Flick.
But would they be able to get out of the
tunnels?
