DANGER ABOVE

The four of them stared at the words. They

looked up beyond the steps to the chink of

light. So it would be dangerous to go up there

would it?

“We could find another way up,” Lewis

whispered.

As he spoke the distant rumble of rocks

being moved could be heard above them.

“Groundlings!” whispered Ella. “The Guide

is right. Come on. We’ll choose a different way

up.”

They moved quietly and quickly away. Jay’s

heart pounded with fear. They hurried on

further along the tunnel, but the noise the

Groundlings were making as they made their

way down seemed to be getting louder.
