No! No! NO! This couldn’t have happened.

He sank to the floor again. He’d left without

Abby. Abby was trapped in the game. The

Groundlings had got her. She’d come after

him to rescue him. And now he’d left her

behind.

Jay panicked. But only for a few seconds.

Then he was thinking. Thinking. That’s what

he had to do. Back on his feet again he was

yanking back the chair in front of the

computer. He sat and stared at the screen.

It seemed to have frozen. But not at the

scene he had just left. The game timer showed

it was the day after the sandstorm. The

Pioneers were all there – well, all except Zak.

But Ella, Binny, Rosie, Flick and Lewis had

walked on and out of the dessert.
