“New Land one kilometre” it said.

“They get there!” Jay said. He wanted to cry

with joy and horror and frustration all at once.

At least knew his new friends were going to

be all right. But…Abby. He had to think. There

was something, something he couldn’t

remember…something about the game that

kept happening when he played it that wasn’t

supposed to happen.

“Of course!”

Jay thumped the control, button and

watched as the timer and the scene jumped

back. Now the Pioneers were still in the

dessert. He thumped the key again. Now it was

early morning and the Pioneers were packing

up at the pool. Thank goodness for the faulty

key on his keypad!
