“It’s working!” he breathed. “Yes! Good!

This has got to work!”

He hit the control key again. Now the

Pioneers had caught up with Binny. He was

talking to them. They looked shocked and sad.

What was Binny saying? Was he telling them

that Abby had been caught by a Groundling

and that he, Jay, had just disappeared? That

must be it. Jay knew his new friends would

put themselves at risk searching for them.

“Now!” Jay said as he hit the key again. This

time the dessert sand storm came up. There

they were! Jay’s dodgy computer had

managed to jump the game backwards to just

the right time. There was Abby and the

Groundling and there was the swirling exit just

appearing next to the figure of himself. And
