colours were gone and he was drifting feet

first through a long dark tunnel.

“Wicked!” Jay told himself. He tried to turn

his head away from the screen. He expected to

see the shelves at the side of the computer

desk. He expected to see the door to his

bedroom. But he didn’t. This didn’t make

sense. What was happening? The feeling of

falling was still happening. For a second Jay

panicked, but then he pulled himself together.

He was probably feeling faint or something.

He’d made himself dizzy looking at that weird

pattern for too long. Any minute now he would

feel the thump of the floor as he hit it and no

doubt Dad would be rushing in the door and

picking him up and telling him not to sit so

            close to the screen.
