Chapter Seven

Breathing fast, Jay finally managed to

scramble to his feet. He felt a mixture of fear

and disbelief. He looked down at what he was

standing on - a dirt, twig-covered track. It

stretched out in front of him a few metres,

then disappeared into a mass of trees. The

trees were tall, dark green, leafy. Not like the

trees in his garden - these were more tropical

looking. Jay laughed out loud. He put his

hands up to his head and felt the sore lump

where he had hit his head on the coat peg

earlier. Then he rubbed his eyes.

“This is mad!” he whispered. “I must be

going mad. Okay, don’t panic. It must have

been that bang on the head I got. This is all a

dream. Any minute and I’ll wake up.”

                                                                        68
