               Mr Snarling looked alarmed.


               “Really?” he said.

               “Yes,” said Gran. “There might be a


            strange kind of woodworm that eat cases

            as well as wood.”


               “I didn’t know this house had woodworm,”

            said Mr Snarling.

               “Oh!” said Gran.


               Mr Snarling spotted a trail of white talcum

            powder that the Chicken Street Gang had


            put along the edges of the carpet earlier.
