               “Oh, it’s best to keep it with you,” said
            Gran. “You can’t put anything down in some
            old houses. Things vanish in seconds”
               Mr Snarling looked alarmed.
               “Really?” he said.
               “Yes,” said Gran. “There might be a
            strange kind of woodworm that eat cases
            as well as wood.”
               “I didn’t know this house had woodworm,”
            said Mr Snarling.
               “Oh!” said Gran.
               Mr Snarling spotted a trail of white talcum
            powder that the Chicken Street Gang had
            put along the edges of the carpet earlier.
