               Billie was watching Mr Snarling’s mouth


            as he spoke. She was lip reading. Billie had

            a hearing problem, but could work out what


            people were saying by watching their

            mouths. It was called lip reading.


               “Er, well…”  Gran said. “Very nice to meet

            you. Come on in and my er…assistants will


            show you around!”

               “Thank you,” Mr Snarling nodded. “I didn’t


            realise you would be so…so…er…er…old.

            Is there somewhere safe I could leave my

            brief case? Perhaps in your office?”
