was obvious too. The doctors at the

hospital. Josie and Tom. And Josh.

Gary needed people to understand.

Because it wasn’t easy coping with

Dad’s illness. When Gary’s dad got ill

with depression he couldn’t work or

look after Gary or do anything or even

go out. Gary knew it was because he

felt deeply sad and empty inside.

But right now his Dad was getting

treatment at the hospital. He would

get well and then he would go home.

And then Gary would go home. But

until then…

“What time is it?” he gasped. “I’m late

back. I’d said I’d be back for when

Lauren arrives!”
