make new friends and work out where
everything was? Why couldn’t things stay the
same?
Abby wasn’t saying anything. She was just
staring at Jay. Jay wasn’t saying anything. He
was just staring back at Abby. Then Abby
said: “What does it feel like?”
“What does what feel like?”
“That thing you’ve got? Aspergers?”
Jay thought for a moment. It didn’t really
feel like anything. He didn’t know what to say.
“I don’t know,” he said. “It’s nothing. I’m
just me.”
“But how do you know you’ve got it?” Abby
frowned. “I mean, you can’t see it?”
“No,” said Jay. “I don’t know. It’s what
people say I’ve got.”
