their world. There is another species called

Groundlings who have discovered the planet

too.”

Abby took the cd out of the bin.

“Groundlings?” said Abby. “That’s a weird

name. What do they do?”

“They are out to stop the Pioneers from

getting to The New Land because they want it

for themselves. So it’s a kind of race between

the Pioneers and the Groundlings. The

Groundlings can only live underground

though. They’re building tunnels to get there.”

“What do they do to the Pioneers?” asked

Abby.

“Well,” said Jay. “They’ve got these long

cords which they wrap around the Pioneers
