“I think he’s between the headaches and

the grouchy stage,” she said looking at

Billie. “And, of course, he keeps falling

asleep at work.”

It was true. Not being able to sleep during

the day meant he kept falling asleep in the

middle of reading the news. Sometimes he

even snored. Listeners were ringing in to

complain. Mr Brown’s boss was starting to

get fed up.

Billie and Tom stopped playing ping pong.

But only because Tom had whacked the

ball too hard. It whizzed upwards and got

stuck in a little gap in one of the garage

beams.
