made everything safe and lucky. Maybe he
had realised that he didn’t need to do them.
There were other things to keep him safe – like
believing in his own courage and working out
what to do for himself.
“I’ve got an idea,” said Jay. “When everyone
else has settled down to sleep, let’s leave.
Let’s walk on and find the way out.”
“But what do you think the way out looks
like?”
“I don’t know!” Jay answered. “But maybe if
we look for it properly we’ll find it.”
Hours later Jay and Abby were the only two
still awake. Even Binny who normally slept
lightly and woke at the slightest sound of
anyone moving was fast asleep. A slight
