“What would we want to go after him for?”
he scoffed. “He’s probably found a short-cut
to the New Land. All this nonsense about
following the path.”
“Zak!” Rosie snapped. “Stop talking like
that. There aren’t any safe short-cuts. You
know we have to follow the path.”
The group slowed down. Ella had stopped
and was staring at something on the path in
front of them. At first Jay couldn’t see what it
was. A hushed silence fell over them. As they
gathered behind Ella they whispered to one
another.
“Is it there?”
“I can see it!”
“What does it say?”
“I can’t believe you lot even take any notice
of that!”
