“Fascinating!” said Miss May. “I think it’s wonderful. Your
Grandad has got a real gift for inventing things. Put it back together,
Alfie and then perhaps someone would like to volunteer to try it out.
Any volunteers?”
“Coo e, Miss,”
“Can I have a go?”
“Can I go next?”
Everyone was waving their arms about. Everyone wanted to try
out the Automatic Back Massager. Miss May decided they would all
take turns, but she would go first.
The whole class giggled as Alfie fitted the gadget on to Miss
May’s head. Alfie looked at it a moment. Mmm. It didn’t look quite
right. Had he put it back together properly?
But it was too late. Miss May pressed the ON switch. One arm
started to swivel about but this time it didn’t reach down to give
Miss May’s back a gentle massage. This time it swivelled round to
the front of her face and waved about wildly.
“Ahh!” said Miss May. “What’s it doing?”
“I don’t know,” said Alfie. “It’s never done that before.”
“Ahh!”cried Miss May again.
