swinging backwards and forwards. Before Grandad could stop it, it

had flung the cold liquid all over itself. There was a horrible hissing

sound and the Room Robot came to a sudden halt.

“Whoops!” said Grandad.

“It’s broken!” Alfie wailed. “Now we can’t show anyone.”

“It can be fixed,” said Grandad.

“Won’t you have to take it apart again?”

“Probably,” said Grandad.

Alfie groaned. The robot wouldn’t be ready in time for Miss May’s

lesson.

Grandad hadn’t got round to fixing the Breakfast Server yet so they

couldn’t take that. They couldn’t have bits of toast flying around the

classroom.

What other inventions did Grandad have?

“How about the Automatic Back Massager?” said Grandad.

Alfie had forgotten about that one. It would have to do. But it

couldn’t be as much fun as the robot could it?
