carrier bag in one hand and his rollerblades tucked under

the other arm. Helen towered over him.

“What’s in the shopping bag then, little newbie?” she

said grabbing the carrier. The small boy said nothing.

Helen grabbed the bag and tipped the contents out on to

the floor – books, pens, mobile, a banana. Then she

               laughed.

“Most people have school rucksacks, not their mum’s

shopping bags for all this!” she jeered and then sauntered

               off down the corridor.

“You shouldn’t have done that,” said Becky trying to

keep up. “You can be really cruel sometimes. Don’t be

               such a bully.”

“He’s weird,” said Helen. “I was just having fun!”

The next day the boy turned up at the school gates

with the same plastic bag. The rollerblades were on his

feet this time. He had the usual serious look on his face.

                       Helen grabbed his arm.
