Gary felt a sudden lump in his
throat. He shoved Josh away and
leaned forward, clutching his
stomach. Then he vomited, violently.
He spat the muck from his mouth.
Josh was pulling his arm again and he
saw the blue light flashing round the
corner and coming towards the river.
Suddenly Gary’s head cleared. He
stood upright and the horror of
everything hit him like a punch in the
face. And, with Josh, he ran.
Chapter Four
They ran fast. The two of them.
Not risking a look back at what had
arrived at the river bank after them. Al
and Specks were long gone. Al and
Specks had left them in it. The hard
