Gary kept his eyes shut - not

daring to believe they weren’t in the

water. He couldn’t move. His whole

body shook with cold and fear and

fury. And he was definitely going to be

sick.

When, a few seconds later, Gary

opened his eyes he saw that Specks

had already got out of the car and

was making shrill shrieking, whooping

noises. Like Al, Specks was just

thirteen years old and all hyped up

over what they had just done.

Al was still sitting behind the

steering wheel. That fierce look that

he’d had in his eyes had gone though

and the sticking up horns of red hair

were flattened as he ran his hands
