“Wait!” he turned back to Binny and

grabbed the knife from him. “You don’t need

to do that! I’ve just remembered something.

It’s those plants. The Groundlings don’t just

eat them. They use them for snake bites too. If

you squish up the leaves you can use the

juice to pour on the bite. It stops the poison.”

Binny looked at Ella, but Ella had never

heard of this.

“Are you sure?” they asked.

“Of course,” said Jay. “Try it!”

He and Ella grabbed a handful of the stinky

plant leaves and rubbed them backwards and

forwards on the ground until the juice oozed

out. Jay dabbed one of the leaves in the goo
