dressed in Groundling clothes and even

            carried a capture rope. But whatever the

            Groundlings had done to him they had not

            turned him into one of them. He was still

            Lewis and his kind face looked up at Jay who

            was still standing on the ledge.

               Ella held a hand out to Jay.

               “It’s okay,” she smiled. “Come down. It’s

            safe. You’ll never guess who this is!”

               Jay had to let the Pioneers tell him all about

            Lewis. He felt terrible. Lewis was so nice and

            he had had a bad time after the Groundlings

            had caught him. He had been forced to work

            digging the underground tunnels that made up

            the Groundlings’ world. He had been made to

            wear their clothes and eat their disgusting

            food. He had had to attend training sessions

            on how to capture Pioneers. But Lewis had
